CS371p Week 10
- What did you do this past week?
After finishing up Allocate, I just worked on other classes. I don’t know whether or not I less busy because I have less work because classes are online or because I can't do any extracurriculars. I’m taking Chinese at the moment so it has been difficult learning as efficiently online because its harder to practice speaking.
2. What’s in your way?
Darwin is looking like a relatively big project so with only two weeks I’ll try to start early to give myself enough leeway. Online learning has been interesting so far. I can’t say that I pay as much attention as I did before but that’s the nature of learning in my pajamas.
3. What will you do next week?
I’ll start on Darwin. It actually looks kind of interesting. I will also try to fix my sleep schedule. My classes don’t start till late in the day and without having to walk to classes I’ve been sleeping at around 4am while still maintaining 8+ hours of sleep.
4. What was your experience of Test #1b? (this question will vary, week to week)
Test #b was fine. I had some technical difficulties at the beginning so I started late but it was fine. Time is a little bit of an issue. I know that Downing accounts for this by pairing us up with others to help each other, but I can’t help but feel like its a scramble to finish all the problems in time while helping each other out.
5. What made you happy this week?
Things have been easy going. There’s that fine point between boredom and productivity that I’ve hit so I‘ve been getting things done. I’ve mostly been trying to learn a 3D software called Houdini. It's interesting because of its non-destructive workflow and some of its core principles really tie in with computer science.
6. What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
If you’re looking for something to read and like fantasy, I would recommend a series called the Stormlight Archive. It is very popular (if not the most) and the fourth book is scheduled to come out something in November, so you’ve got plenty of time to catch up.
